We can opt for the excursions along the coast or towards the heart of the real beauty: the Minorcan countryside, although whichever we choose we will end up finding that all routes eventually met one another. The "Cami de Cavalls" (a path originally created to take by horseback which surrounds the island) is recommended in order to capture the charm of the Minorcan coastline as it follows the island's entire outline. We are also unable to refuse the various companies which offer the chance of admiring the purity of the autochthonous horses during unforgettable rides close to the sea.
Minorca doesn't have too many slopes; therefore we can travel around calmly pedalling on a bike. And so, we are able to appreciate each and every tiny detail offered by the island. The sea breeze will be our best ally as it helps to create the best atmosphere to fight back the heat and enjoy the fresh air. The Camí d'en Kane , done during the British dominion, is an appropriate route for two wheelers, which offers us the opportunity to get together with the essence of the old rural scenery.
All excursions will allow us to encounter some obliged common stops; the many coves and beaches where to recover our breath and refresh ourselves in the privileged waters.
Known as the Island of wind, Minorca is the longed for scenery for those who love sailing. One can windsurf on the calm waters at the sporting harbours where the Nautical Centres are located, offering all type of services and facilities for those who decide to cast anchor and enjoy the settings. A number of nautical companies rent out different kinds of vessels or offer excursions to any of the beautiful beaches where we will be able to enjoy a wonderful dip in the Mediterranean or a dive into its depths. If you practise scuba-diving in Minorca you will fall in love with its transparent waters which keep a wide variety of animal life worth observing. Its sea bottoms are an authentic enchanting forest of unique plants and marine species, caves, light effects and shipwrecks. Diving in the Protected Area at the north of the island is a real underwater adventure where lobsters and basses can be seen as they move about freely.
Canoeing amongst the virgin nature is another manner of experiencing the adventure at sea, discovering caves, impressive cliffs or passing under the most astonishing natural bridges of the Mediterranean.
After so many thrills, one can relax with a game of golf. The first advantage we come across is the climate, which allows to cover the courses at any time of the year. By being located close to the sea and surrounded by nature are facts that enable us to practise this amazing sport within an incomparably quiet scenery.
As well as golf courses, Minorca holds a wide offer of sports grounds where the whole family can practise a number of activities. One can play tennis, paddle, football or basketball in surroundings next to the sea. The island even counts with a cricket ground.
